OVERVIEW
Hawai'i Perinatal Resources is a proposed identity for the Hawai‘i Perinatal Services Network. This proposal shifted the original grant concept into a unified central design system created to support healthcare providers across the full spectrum of perinatal care. This project includes a comprehensive 24-page identity book detailing the concept, visual and cultural inspirations, logo development and meaning, and the possible applications spanning stationery, apparel, and digital platforms.
This opportunity to develop the identity for the Hawai'i Perinatal Resources expanded my understanding of branding and improved my ability for meaningful research. This project also gave me thoughtful experience working with clients with real world goals and expectations. Throughout this project, I worked closely with the the Hawai'i Perinatal team to better understand their vision, gather feedback, and refine the identity within multiple rounds of feedback.
This project strengthened my abilities to think creatively while being strategic and improved my design process after each feedback session. This project has shaped my perception and expectations when working with a real client and team.
INSPIRATION
The main pillar of this identity system is the 'Ulu pattern motif in traditional Hawaiian quilt making. Hawaiian quilting is a traditional practice that has been passed down for generations, connecting ancestors to the present.
Deliverables included a 24-page Identity Book Proposal, detailing the research, logo ideation, identity specifications, and applications. The client also requested a brief 10-slide presentation.
